Exodus
Narrative:

The Passover - He Died for Me?

"The Passover -
He Died for Me?"

The first-born son stares sadly at the lamb who was slaughtered so that he may live, while his father carries out the Lord's instructions, striking the hyssop branches with the lamb's blood on the doorway's lintel and side panels. His mother embraces the younger son while she prepares unleavened bread for tomorrow's exodus from Egypt. Both parents act with faith but shudder to think what otherwise would befall their older son as they trans-fix their attention upon him. The reflection of a cross in the basin of blood foretells the coming of Jesus the Messiah..Lamb of God... who will give up His life for our sins so that we may have eternal life.

Leviticus

Moses Consecrates Aaron

"Moses Consecrates
Aaron"

The Lord reveals His love and plans for all mankind through the conduit of His Chosen People. He precisely instructed Moses on the building of the Tabernacle, Ark of theCovenant, altars, laver and courtyard in the desert following the Exodus. Every detail of the High Priest's clothing (including the Urim and Thummim carried in the pouch behind the beautifully jeweled breastplate) and all cere- monial utensils, were designed by the Lord. All gathered to learn to honor and obey the Lord and to witness the consecration of Aaron and his four sons as Moses wipes the sacrified ram's blood on Aaron's right ear lobe, right thumb and right big toe.

Ruth

Sit Still My Daughter

"Sit Still, My Daughter"

Naomi has returned from Moab to Bethlehem with her young daughter-in-law, Ruth, a Moabitess. They are both widows. Ruth meets Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi, when she begins to glean leftover grain in his barley field. He desires to make her his wife, but as he is the second closest male relative of Naomi's family , he must convince the first in line to relinquish his right. Pictured are Naomi and Ruth awaiting the outcome of Boaz's legal efforts. Naomi encourages Ruth to patiently wait, "Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day." Meanwhile, at the city gate where a hearing was conducted before the elders of the city, the closer male relative gives up his rights of redemption and his shoe (as was the custom) to Boaz. This painting depicts Boaz entering the house with the good news and the shoe. Boaz, the kinsman redeemer, marries Ruth who will become the great grandmother of King David and in this messianic royal line will ultimately be born Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of Mankind.

I Samuel
"Here Am I" - Eli and Samuel

"Here Am I" -
Eli and Samuel

Young Samuel, assistant to the High Priest, Eli, hears his name called in the night by the Lord, but mistakenly believes it is Eli's voice. Samuel jumps up from his bed place close to the Ark in the tabernacle. He dutifully and compassionately rushes to the aging and almost blind Eli. Eli tells him, "I called not; lie down again." After this occurs for a third time, Eli perceives it is the Lord calling Samuel, and told him to return to bed and respond to the Lord, "Speak Lord; for Thy servant heareth." David Brings the Ark to Jerusalem

"David Brings the Ark to Jerusalem"

One of the most joyful moments in biblical history occurs as the citizens of Jerusalem celebrate the arrival of the Ark of the Covenant. Building the Temple

"Building the Temple"

King David enthusiastically turns over to his son, Solomon, the Lord's plans and materials David has gathered for the Temple to be built on Mt.Moriah. Solomon's dreamlike coun- tenance portrays his awe of the task and privilege of completing the divinely inspired plans.
"And David said to Solomon his son, 'Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee, He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou has finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord."

King Uzziah becomes a leper

King Uzziah, proud and corrupt ruler of Judah, enters the forbidden sanctuary of the Temple and defies the Lord by personally burning incense upon the altar. He is trespassing, performing work only the sons of Aaron are consecrated to do, and stubbornly refusing to put down the incense burner. He is swiftly punished by God as he is struck by leprosy on his forehead. The priests anxiously rush him out of the Temple as the High Priest watches woefully. Proverbs
Drink From Your Own Well

"Drink From Your Own Well"

As his wife and children anxiously await his return home, a man stops for a licentious liaison. The beckoning seductress reflected in her water well casts a dark shadow across the man and his spiritual life. The resultant harm is symbolized by the rift between the man and his family in the distance and by the necklace charms of tears, a broken heart and death. Even the camel gazes disapprovingly at his master.

Song of Solomon

Song of Solomon

"Song of Solomon "
'I am my beloved's and
my beloved is mine.'

This beautiful and passionate book of the Bible tells of dual love themes; first, of the love of Jehovah (represented by the flame) for Israel (symbolized by the milk and honey held by Solomon and his Shulamite bride), and second, of the courtship and marriage of man and woman. Read "Song of Solomon" and see through the eyes of the lovers...He, "I am here in my garden, my darling, my bride, I gather my myrrh with my spices and eat my honeycomb with my honey." She, "His arms are round bars of gold set with topaz; his body, bright ivory encrusted with jewels."

Ezekiel

Ezekiel's Vision

"Ezekiel's Vision - And Then They Shall Know That I Am The Lord."

During the days of Israel's captivity in Babylon, the young priest Ezekiel sees a spectacular vision of the Glory of the Lord on a sapphire throne through a crystal sky surrounded by 4 four-headed (man, eagle, lion & ox), multi-winged creatures. Moving under the creatures were awesome wheels within wheels with eyes in their rims. The Lord thrusts a scroll into Ezekiel's hand. The scroll is so laden with warnings and sorrows there is writing on both sides. Ezekiel is commanded to eat the scroll and go and speak to the exiled Israelites of their offenses against God and their failure to heed His commands. When he put the scroll in his mouth, it tasted as sweet as honey. Ezekiel also prophesied of God's promise of restoration and protection of His Chosen People, "and then they shall know I am the Lord!" Mark

Let Down to Rise Up

"Let Down to Rise Up"

Determined to bring the paralyzed man to Jesus for a healing, four men uncovered the roof tiles and let down the paralytic on his bed in the midst of the crowded house. "When Jesus saw their faith, He said unto the sick of palsy, 'Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.'" Certain scribes, critical of Jesus, privately thought such a statement was blasphemy, as only God can forgive sins. In the hardness of their hearts, they did not recognize Jesus, the God-man, the promised Messiah. Jesus perceived their thoughts and said to them, "Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, 'Thy sins be forgiven thee;' or to say, 'Arise and take up thy bed, and walk?' But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins." Then to the paralytic He said, "I say unto thee; Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house." The man immediately arose , took up his bed to the amazement of all and the glory of God. Lord Jesus healed him from the inside out.

`The Last Supper

"The Last Supper"

The flame of the oil lantern in the upstairs room flickers as the wind sweeps over

the puzzled faces of the eleven remaining disciples reclining on couches (as was the dining custom) at the Passover table. At the back of the room, Judas, the twelfth disciple slinks out into the night to complete his act of betrayal. Athough the imminent events and sacrifice which soon follow are part of His Father's ultimate plans for all mankind, Jesus the God-man, must have felt saddened to be leaving His beloved disciples at this moment in time.

Faith That Heals

"Faith That Heals"

The weeping synagogue leader, Jairus, points the way home for Jesus to heal his daughter. Suddenly, a woman, bleeding for twelve years and impoverished from paying for ineffective treatment, boldly dives over others to touch the tassel of Jesus' garment for an immediate healing! In that electrifying moment, Jesus feels an outpouring of His power and asks "Who touched Me?" Peter replies that many are crowding against Him. After the woman's trembling admission, Jesus tells her, "Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace." Just then a messenger approaches with news that Jairus' daughter is dead. Jesus continues on to Jairus' house where He causes the little girl to spring back to life.

Lazarus and the Rich Man

Hell hath no exits!

"Lazarus and the
Rich Man"
"There was a certain rich man which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said,'Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.' Then he said, 'I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house. For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' Abraham saith unto him,; 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' And he said, 'Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.' And he said unto him,'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.'"

Read Luke 16:19-31

This is an actual accounting told by Jesus of the two distinct places in Hades where souls went upon their death. After Jesus' death He set the righteous souls free to reside in Heaven and the unrepentant sinners remained in Hades and are still awaiting their final judgment, the eternal lake of fire. This is not a parable which only speaks in generalities, but an actual occurrence wherein proper names are used.

The Resurrection

"The Resurrection"

Upon finding the body of Jesus missing, Mary Magdalene tearfully spins about in answer to Christ's voice from outside of the tomb. She reaches out to Him in an electrifying moment of realization that He has risen from the dead and has returned. Jesus' shadow is cast across the ground of the tomb and Mary. As she reaches out to Him, He cautions her not to touch Him, "Touch Me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, 'I ascend unto My Father, and your Father; and to My God, and your God.'"

Revelation

Behold I Come

"Behold I Come"

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations; and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written
KING OF KINGS, AND
LORD OF LORDS.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, 'Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God: that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.' And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of Him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh." (Revelation 19:11-21, KJV)
